Ila Amson "Amy" Barrett Jefcoat
(September 18, 1915 - January 4, 2012)
Funeral services for Ila Amson "Amy" Barrett Jefcoat of Kilmichael will be at 10:00
a.m. on Friday, January 6, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with burial following in the
Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. Ben Hill will
officiate the services.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Jefcoat died of heart failure on Wednesday, January 4, at Tyler Holmes
Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 96 years old.
Mrs. Jefcoat was the daughter of the late John Frank and Mary Lillie Strain Barrett
and the widow of the late George Jefcoat. She was a retired nurse and a
member of Poplar Spings Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by
one sister and one brother.
Survivors include one daughter, Marcelene Shackael and her husband, Robert, of
Winona; three sons, Billy Jefcoat and his wife, Shirley, of Memphis, TN, Edward
Jefcoat and his wife, Carolyn, of Greenwood, and Hosea "Tee" Jefcoat and his
wife, Lena, of Kilmichael; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren;
four great-great-grandchildren; her caregivers, Christine Horton and Muffin.
Pallbearers will be Danny Jefcoat, Mike Jefcoat, Christopher Jefcoat, Gwain
Jefcoat, Craig Britt, and Corey Hyer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the
Alzheimer's Association.
