Mary Marjorie Johnson
(August 27, 1923 - December 2, 2011)
Mrs. Mary Marjorie Johnson, age 88, passed away on Friday, December 2, at
Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She is survived by one
daughter, Ruth Allen Johnson of Greenwood; one son, John Wesley Wilson,
Jr., and his wife, Simone, of Kilmichael; two granddaughters, Shoni
Montgomery and her husband Dewayne, and Leslie Fowler, both of Winona;
four great-grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Rachel Montgomery, Jessie
Montgomery, and Gavin Fowler, all of Winona; two brothers, Carvell Wright of
Florence, Alabama, and John Wright of Ruleville; and one sister, Ruth
Easom of Lake Village, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Arthur and Edna Wright; one brother, Billy Joe Wright; and two
sisters, Sybil Catlett and Betty Jane Cooper.
Mrs. Johnson was born August 27, 1923, in Sunflower County and resided in
the Delta most of her life until moving to Kilmichael in 1994 to be closer to
her loving family. She was a lifelong believer in Christ and a member of
Bethlehem Baptist Church at the time of her passing. She worked
approximately 40 years for Baxter Industries.
Visitation was held Sunday, December 4, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., at
Oliver Funeral Home in Winona, with a graveside service following at
Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Bryan Burson officiated the
service. Pallbearers were Dewayne Montgomery, Christopher Williams,
Jessie Montgomery, Mason Sanford, Curtis Laney, and Shawn Malone.
Honorary pallbearer was James Collins.
Mrs. Johnson's family would like to thank all those who cared and supported
them during her lengthy illness, including the staff of Winona Manor nursing
home. They are truly appreciative for the prayers and support that have
sustained them.
