Betty Jo Dotson
(July 2, 1932 - December 1, 2011)
Funeral services for Betty Jo Dotson of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on
Saturday, December 3, at First Presbyterian Church in Winona, with Rev. Grover
Gunn officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Dermott Cemetery in
Dermott, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at First
Presbyterian Church in Winona.
Mrs. Dotson died on Thursday, December 1, at her residence after a lengthy
battle with lung cancer. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Dotson was the daughter of the late Russell and Verna Mae Greene
Swindoll. She was a graduate of MSCW and was a former teacher and
bookkeeper. She enjoyed bridge club with her dear friends, reading,
gardening, and cooking. Before coming to Winona, she lived in Monroe,
Louisiana. Mrs. Dotson was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winona.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dotson was preceded in death by her son, Rick
Graves; and her brother, Harold Swindoll.
Survivors include her husband, David Dotson of Winona; two daughters,
Shannon Lingo and her husband, Fred, of Oak Grove, LA; and Allison Nolen
and her husband, Andy, of Roswell, GA; one sister, Mary Faye Swindoll of
Clarksdale; six grandchildren, Abby Russell (Cole), Leah Lingo, and Josh
Lingo, all of Oak Grove, LA; and Drew Nolen, Zach Nolen, and Maggie Nolen, all
of Roswell, GA; and three nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Andy Nolen, Drew Nolen, Zach Nolen, Cole Russell, Fred
Lingo, and Josh Lingo.
The family would like to give special thanks to Nicole D. Cleveland, M.D., and
the staff of Mississippi Oncology Associates; and to the Sta-Home staff,
specifically Blair, Ora, and Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian
Church, 302 Summit Street, Winona, MS 38967.
